Present Continuous and Simple Present for the Future

Hi guys ! Sometimes, students  feel confused about future, principally when it is used SIMPLE PRESENT and PRESENT CONTINUOUS. Here's a quick tutorial for you. I hope you appreciate it ! see you there !

1 - Present continuous for Future --> When you talk about something you have already arranged to do. Do not use Simple Present.

Ex:   What are you  doing tomorrow night ?
Are you going to the movies on Friday ?
John is coming from Kansas next July.
Kathy and Paul are getting married next year.

Obs 1: Do not forget to mention when the action will happen. It is usually an immediate future
Obs 2: It is also possible to use going to with these sentences above.

Ex: What are you doing tomorrow night ? = What are you going to do tomorrow night ?
John is coming from kansas next July = John is going to come from Kansas next July

2 - Simple Present with a Future meaning --> It is used to talk about time-tables, programs, etc (trasnports, movies). See examples below.

Ex:     What times does the train leave ?
The filme begins at 9:00 pm.
           Tomorrow is Sunday.
The bus leaves from Central Station at 8:00 am.

Now, Try to do these exercises to check what you have studied ! bye !
